Projects and engineering

Project documentation

Large projects bring with them their own set of issues, including

  • advising on project structures and undertaking risk analysis
  • advising on tendering processes
  • drafting and negotiating contract documentation.
This includes the simplest adaptations of standard forms to tailored drafting for the most complex projects. We have experience of dealing with all types of contracts including FIDIC, IChemE and ICE. We have acted on a number of complicated project finance transactions and regularly draft and negotiate complicated bespoke documentation.

Experience is key in these situations and we have been involved in projects in all the major regions of the world, from the UK and the European Union, to Central and Eastern Europe, Pakistan, Ghana, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Nigeria, SE Asia, Canada, North America, Central and South America.

Our experience covers all sectors, encompassing infrastructure, water, energy and processing plants, nuclear facilities, pharmaceutical plants, power stations, oil and gas, ports and dredging projects, civil engineering schemes and accommodation projects. We act for owners, government bodies, contractors and lenders.

Claims avoidance and dispute resolution

Many international engineering contracts are made subject to English law often with London as the preferred venue for any litigation or arbitration.

We have an established track record of acting on international arbitration in a variety of industries and in many jurisdictions. Arbitrations have been conducted under a wide range of procedural rules including ICC, LCIA, AAA, NAI and UNCITRAL.
