Michael joined Speechly Bircham as a partner in 1990. He has been Managing Partner since 1998. He completed his training at Simmons & Simmons and was admitted as a solicitor in 1982. Michael obtained his law degree at Trinity College, Oxford and speaks fluent German.
He has been a local authority councillor in the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham and contested a parliamentary seat in the 1987 General Election. Michael was the chairman of the Bow Group in 1984. He was also the non-executive chairman of Highclear Group Limited, a nursing homes operator backed by private equity house Graphite Capital, from 1998 to 2003.
Michael offers general corporate advice, financing and transactional work for public and private companies, including sales, acquisitions and buyouts. He specialises in the healthcare sector and in cross border and inward investment transactions and is recognised as a legal expert by Legal Experts 2009.
