Acquisition - relocations service company
We advised a leading global removals and relocation services provider on the acquisition of a Scottish corporate relocations service company for an undisclosed sum. The company provides a guaranteed home purchase scheme and relocation services for employees of its corporate clients and public agencies throughout the United Kingdom.

£95 million acquisition
Acting for a consortium of investors on the £95 million purchase of two companies jointly owning the long leashold interest in a major City office space. Advice included the structure and all finance and tax aspects relating to the transaction.

Acquisition of a business and certain assets
We advised a UK decision intelligence company on its acquisition of the business and certain assets of an information discovery technology company.

Acquisition of a former City market
We advised on the funding for the acquisition of the former market for a price of approximately £27.7 million, including a term loan from Investec Bank.

Acquisition of a nursing home portfolio
We acted for the buyer in its £57 million acquisition of a substantial nursing homes portfolio from MEPC. Speechly Bircham also acted for the buyer on the related financing. The portfolio of nursing homes is let to operating tenants.

Acquisition by major Malaysian ship-building firm
We acted for this firm in its purchase of a majority shareholding in the largest ship-building/repair company in the UK. This involved the creation of an intermediate holding company, and the acquisition of the assets of another large ship-repair company that had recently gone into receivership.

Acquisition of competitor's business
We advised an NYSE-quoted US provider of professional and technical services on the UK aspects of its acquisition of a competitor’s onshore engineering and construction operations.

Class 1 acquisition
We acted for one of the UK’s leading software solutions providers on its Class 1 acquisition of a specialist provider of IT solutions, software applications and consultancy services to financial institutions, together with its business in India.

Disposal of business division for motor vehicle company
Acting for an existing client on the disposal of its Webcon business division by way of an MBO to existing management for an undisclosed sum. Webcon distributes motor vehicle and engine parts for the automotive aftermarket. The Vendor is a subsidiary of Standard Motor Products, Inc. a New York Stock Exchange quoted corporation.

Disposal by leading German industrial company
As well as other matters for this client, we advised on the English law aspects of the group’s disposal of its maritime shipping business (including vessels for the shipment of iron ore and vehicles) to a US purchaser for a substantial consideration.

Disposal of international search and selection business
We acted for this international consulting group on the sale of the local businesses in over 20 countries to an NYSE buyer.
