Experience:
Jon has wide general banking experience with particular expertise in project finance (including PFI/PPP), acquisition finance and property finance. He advises both lenders and borrowers on bilateral and syndicated facilities and on restructurings.
Recent experience includes:
- acting for Bank of Scotland as senior lender on the £1billion+ Silvertown Quays urban regeneration project, a mixed use development in the Thames Gateway including c 5,000 residential units
- acting for Royal Bank of Scotland in relation to a development finance facility of £45million
- acting for Royal Bank of Scotland on senior facilities of £250million and £483million to two property investment funds, to finance property and corporate (property sector) acquisitions
- acting for Macquarie Bank in relation to a series of cross-border structured note transactions
- acting for the project company on the £135million Moyle electricity interconnector financing by way of index-linked, monoline-wrapped bonds
- acting for lenders and borrowers on accommodation based PFI projects and other infrastructure projects.
Jon joined Speechly Bircham as a partner in 2007 from McGrigors’ London office where he was a partner in the banking and finance team. Jon is a qualified lawyer in England & Wales and Ontario, Canada, and has previously worked for CMS Cameron McKenna and as in-house counsel at Credit Lyonnais.
