Our financial services group advises businesses operating in the financial services sector, including fund managers, banks, depositaries, insurers (both life and general), stock brokers, futures brokers and dealers, proprietary traders, clearing firms and independent financial advisers.

We handle a wide range of work in the sector, much of an international nature, regularly advising on regulatory and compliance matters and assisting with regulatory investigations and claims. We produce a broad range of customer and transactional documentation and have a great deal of experience of understanding transactions in the sector, including start-ups, acquisitions, disposals, reorganisations and joint ventures. We have a strong reputation for establishing authorised and unauthorised investment funds, both onshore and offshore and have effected various Court and other schemes for life and general insurers and. We also handle various categories of disputes and claims arising from the provision of financial services.

We acted for Scottish Life on its demutualisation and transfer of its business to Royal London in July 2001. Our clients include Bank of New York Trust & Depositary Company, Execution Limited, Ecclesiastical Insurance Group and Collins Stewart.
