City law firm Speechly Bircham LLP has bolstered its IP, Technology & Commercial (IPTC) practice with the appointment of Nathalie Moreno from Beachroft LLP and Vinod Bange from Eversheds LLP to the partnership. These appointments will play an important part in helping the IPTC group realise one of its key goals of becoming an adviser of choice in data protection and IT work.
Nathalie Moreno joined the firm on 1 December 2008 from the London office of Beachcroft, where she was a partner heading the international technology team specialising in IT, telecoms and data protection. An international lawyer, Nathalie has extensive experience advising clients operating in the communications, e-commerce and information technology sectors in EMEA and globally. Before joining Beachcroft, Nathalie was Head of the Telecoms group at Freshfields in Paris. She is a European Registered Lawyer with the Law Society of England and Wales as well as a French qualified lawyer.
Vinod Bange joins the firm on 12 January 2009 from Eversheds where he was a senior associate and head of the data privacy group in London. His key areas of expertise are data protection, information management and security, e-commerce and e-banking. Vinod has a wide range of experience on data protection and e-business matters acting for financial institutions, retailers and a number of global blue chip clients including several secondments.
Nathalie’s arrival will help enhance the firm’s reputation to undertake high quality international IT, telecommunications and data protection work. Vinod’s background complements the group’s highly regarded data protection practice, and he will focus on data protection work within the UK’s banking, financial services and insurance markets, leaving Head of IPTC, Robert Bond, to develop the international data protection practice.
Managing partner Michael Lingens comments: “Both Nathalie and Vinod’s appointments are a valuable addition to our integrated IPTC practice which will have grown to nearly 20 lawyers since it was launched in April 2007. By diversifying into areas less affected by the credit crunch we continue to realise our strategic objective of remaining a strong and well-balanced firm."
Over the last two years Speechly Bircham’s IPTC group has grown apace, offering a complete contentious and non-contentious IP, technology and commercial legal service to UK and international businesses. In the technology and data protection sector the group has an impressive client roster including: 3M; Affiliated Computer Services; BancTec; Black & Decker; Dresser; Merrill Communications; Pentair and Second Life.
