Experience:
Christopher specialises in insolvency, reconstruction and recovery work. He is a recognised expert in his field. His clients include insolvency practitioners, banks, asset based lenders and other financial institutions.
Significant recent work includes:
- acting for the receivers of Claims Direct
- a leading asset-based lender in successful breach of fiduciary duty and tracing claims against borrower’s directors personally
- a major asset based lender on a challenge to level of termination fees on exit
- pension fund trustees in maximising recoveries of shortfall due from employer company
- a UK clearing bank on the effect of EU Commission cartel investigation on guarantee obligations and consequent insolvency advice.
Christopher joined Speechly Bircham in January 2004 having previously been head of Hammonds’ Finance Law department in Birmingham. He was admitted as a solicitor in 1986 and obtained his law degree at the University of Kent at Canterbury in 1982. Christopher is recognised as a legal expert by Legal Experts 2009 and as a leading individual by Chambers 2009.
