Speechly Bircham and King's College London launch this year's State of HR survey

28 October 2009

City law firm Speechly Bircham has teamed up for the second consecutive year with Professor David Guest and the HRM Learning Board at King's College London to conduct a survey of senior HR professionals.

The survey entitled "The State of HR - from recession to recovery?" follows on from last year's survey "The state of the HR function in the current economic downturn" .  It was launched in October 2009.  It aims to gain insight in to the current challenges facing HR directors and senior HR managers across the UK and benchmark last year's results which provided a ground breaking and authoritative insight into the workforce and the HR profession.

The survey has been designed to answer the following topical issues:   How are firms maintaining employee engagement in the current environment?  Have difficult economic pressures led to a harsher approach from management and what are the consequences?  What lessons can we learn from what has happened during the recession as we move to recovery?  What challenges will HR face in the coming year and what will be driving HR strategy?  What is happening to the role of the HR function itself in this highly challenging environment?

The survey results will be published in early February 2010 and will be available to download at  www.thestateofhr.com.

Last year's results, published in February 2009, are available at www.thestateofhr.com,  which provided a ground breaking and authoritative insight into the workforce and the HR profession.
