Appointments complement the firm’s expanding infrastructure capability
City law firm Speechly Bircham LLP is pleased to announce the hire of a four-strong specialist projects team from the London office of Shadbolt LLP. The team include partners Matthew Newing and Andrew Walsh, assistant solicitor Amrit Kaur Clark and projects executive Natalie Barron. These appointments follow swiftly on the heels of the recent hire of corporate and projects partner Tim Ball and his assistant, Paul Henty, also from the London office of Shadbolt.
All six appointments significantly bolster the firm’s growing expertise within the projects and infrastructure sector. This discipline extends the firm's existing real estate and construction capabilities which were significantly boosted by the integration of Campbell Hooper’s market-leading regeneration practice in June 2009 and whose notable clients include Barratt, Bellway, Berkeley Homes and Countryside Properties.
Matthew Newing and Andrew Walsh specialise in the healthcare sector where they are both widely recognised, especially for their work in advising clients on the management of major NHS LIFT schemes. They also have experience in other sectors including energy and social infrastructure.
Principal projects that the team has advised on include Hornsey Community Hospital, Grand Union Village in Ealing and Streatham Common in Lambeth and clients include Fulcrum Group, Assura and BHE Developments.
Tim Ball has substantial experience of acting on structuring complex projects joint venture projects such as for the Metronet consortium supply chain in the London Underground PPP, advising two of the shareholders in the successful Connect Plus consortium M25 road widening PFI Scheme.
Commenting on the appointments, Michael Lingens, Managing Partner of Speechly Bircham said: “We are delighted to welcome Matthew and Andrew to the firm. These new appointments, together with our other recent hires from Shadbolt and our merger with Campbell Hooper, demonstrate our intention to grow and diversify our real estate and construction offering. Bringing on board these experienced practitioners is an important step forward in the continuing strategic growth of the business.”
