City law firm Speechly Bircham is delighted to announce the arrival of senior solicitor Kate Troup to join its fast growing Financial Services team. Kate’s appointment follows the recent hire of Financial Services partner Jonathan Bayliss who joined on 4 January 2010, also from Farrer & Co.
With over eight years experience as a financial services solicitor, Kate specialises in a wide range of financial services regulatory and product work. She has particular expertise in the investment management and private banking sectors. Kate has advised many private banks on lending regulation (consumer credit and mortgage conduct of business rules) and general banking conduct of business rules. Kate will work closely with Speechlys’ highly regarded Elizabeth Budd (a contributor to the Oxford University Press book on Investment Management Law and Practice - 2010) and her colleagues advising investment managers.
Head of the Financial Services group Nick Janmohamed said “We are delighted that Kate and Jonathan have chosen to join us. Both appointments are a natural fit and their area of expertise neatly complements our existing areas of practice; we have many clients in common. We are particularly pleased by the additional strength in the private banking, and charitable funds arena which will add to our existing capability in the private client wealth management sector and in investment management generally. We are continuing to recruit to meet the growth in work from long-standing and new clients.”
