Jonathan covers a wide range of financial services regulatory and advisory work, with a particular focus on advising clients in the wealth management and private banking sectors.
His experience includes market leading advice on product work for private banks, acting on the structuring and legal aspects of collective investment schemes both authorised and unauthorised and particularly in the charity sector.
Jonathan's regulatory practice covers the range of UK and EU regulatory issues faced by FSA regulated businesses, including MiFID, financial promotions, insurance and mortgage regulation and conduct of business rules generally. Jonathan has also acted in many transactions involving financial services clients.
He is described in Chambers 2010 as having a “realistic and measured approach," and is commended for "the efforts he takes to understand his clients' business.”
Jonathan joined Speechly Bircham in 2010 as a partner from Farrer & Co where he was a senior partner in its Financial Services team. Jonathan was admitted as a solicitor in 1988, and prior to that originally qualified as a barrister and called to the bar in 1982. He obtained his jurisprudence degree at Balliol College, Oxford.
